make a commitment to behavioral health
Every day, California firefighters come face-to-face with stresses and tragedies few can imagine. Often, the toll of the job can push our brothers and sisters to the emotional brink. Sometimes ... tragically ... they go over the brink.
California's fire service leaders are coming together to support the emotional health and well-being of our firefighters. Leaders of for statewide fire service organizations -- representing tens of thousands of firefighters -- signed on to a labor-management behavioral health and wellness initiative, sponsored by the California Fire Service Behavioral health Task Force.
Make Your Commitment to a Healthier Fire Service
All California fire departments -- through their labor presidents and fire chiefs -- are being asked to commit themselves to work toward awareness, counseling and treatment of our firefighters at risk from post-traumatic stress injury.

Working together, we've met challenges of firefighter health and safety, from two-in, two-out to addressing cancer risks. We can do the same with behavioral health and wellness.
We owe it to our firefighters, their families and the people they protect.
